 My Sweet Gourd

fifty years or more

hung the gourd

then long stored

in the sold shed

and that is how

i came to collect

the dozen gourds

of which i have

since stored

recently to send

one to Mississippi--

the one that hung

for all those years

at the cross point

of being owned

and being

sold.
