Hughes Auditorium

My fondest memory of Hughes is the revival of 75 and the singing of the Wesley hymn, And Can It Be. The auditorium was across the street from our duplex when we lived in Wilmore, and we could hear the grand pipe organ playing at all hours as students practiced.

On the Wilmore Road

While traveling out from Lexington on Highway 68 toward Wilmore, we pulled off the road for this tree. We saw many such scenes along the back roads, though not enough horse farms, which are more to the North of Lexington.

Atop East River Mountain

Directly below the East River Mountain looking down upon Bluefield. To the right of the Cumberland Road Baptist Church steeple was my grandmother's home. Many homes on Cumberland Road were moved or torn down to make way for the widening of the road. My grandmothers home was moved across the highway, where it stands today.
